I’m an Instructional Designer based in Denver, Colorado

Growing up an hour outside of New York City in Long Island, NY, I developed an appetite for design, learning, and novel experience that I’ve been trying to satisfy ever since.

At The Pennsylvania State University, I explored the complex employee-employer relationship through my coursework in labor and human resources. My experience as an undergraduate lab coordinator in the Leadership and Innovation Lab advanced my research skills in the adjacent industrial-organizational psychology realm.

I followed these interests to Morgan Stanley, where I developed a robust skillset, adding value to my clients and solving nuanced performance problems as a strategic HR Business Partner. Prior to that, I sharpened my investigative interviewing and data analysis skills as an Employee Relations Analyst.

After working in HR for several years, I decided to pursue my passion for learning and development by transitioning into the field of instructional design.

With my background in the corporate HR space, I know that skilled, knowledgeable employees can impact real business outcomes. My graduate studies at Franklin University enhanced my theoretical and applied foundation of instructional design, learning science, and the latest learning technology while my work history provides a diverse lens of training and development in the corporate setting.

I am uniquely positioned to navigate between effective, research-backed multimedia learning strategies and the realities of operating in a fast-paced corporate environment. Flexing between classic models like ADDIE and an integrated approach, I can analyze performance needs, design and develop learning interventions, and evaluate the effectiveness of individual courses or organizational programs alike.

In May 2023, I completed my Masters of Science in Instructional Design and Learning Technology. Shortly after, I joined Avalere Health (formerly Fishawack Health) as a Learning Strategist within the Performance Optimization consulting division.

  • I complete my Masters of Science in Instructional Design and Learning Technology degree in May, 2023.

In addition to the work developed for this portfolio, I’ve sharpened my skills with several volunteer instructional design roles and projects.

Checkout my tech toolbox and verified badges on Credly at the bottom of this page for a detailed skill summary.

  • While each problem varies, I generally follow an interdisciplinary results-driven approach. I start by performing a needs analysis to understand the root cause of the issue and define the problem. I may perform a task analysis as well.

Next, I’ll produce a design document to share my vision and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.

After making edits and receiving client approval for the final design, I’ll create storyboards and visual mockups to communicate the the look and feel of the project.

From there, I’ll develop iterations of the project until it is ready to be launched or implemented. Finally, I’ll evaluate the project to determine whether the intended learning goals and desired business outcomes were achieved.

  • According to Mastering the Instructional Design Process: A Systematic Approach, by Rothwell, Benscoter, King & King:

“Instructional design means more than literally creating instruction. It is associated with the broader concept of analyzing human performance problems systematically, identifying the root causes of those problems, considering various solutions to address the root causes, leveraging organizational and individual strengths, and implementing the interventions in ways designed to minimize the unintended consequences of action. Instructional design encompasses the preparation of work-related instruction and other strategies intended to improve worker performance. It does not mean throwing training at all problems or mindlessly plugging content into virtual templates.”

As an instructional designer, I can help your organization diagnose human performance problems, perform a needs analysis, and recommend appropriate learning interventions. If an educational intervention is warranted, I can define learning objectives, and design and develop face-to-face, virtual instructor lead (vILT), or self-paced online (eLearning) content.

  • Probably somewhere outside! I love exploring and adventuring with my friends and partner. In the warmer months you’ll find me hiking and camping and in the cooler months I’m skiing every weekend! During the week you can also find me rock climbing at the local gym or taking Orange Theory classes.
